Finished! The first of the Wind Series. Do I like it? Yes. Is it the visualised concept at the outset? Ummm almost.. hadn’t planned on all the red and orange but it was necessary to tie the painting together.
What has surprised me is when first venturing into the realm of figurative surrealism, it was a struggle to get the anatomy and muscle structures correct. Almost three years later it is finally getting easier, the eye is picking up on the detail, the brain has recorded the more finite details of bone structure and muscle interaction with movement and the outcome? Rather than taking days or even weeks of correction, the ability to draw a figure has become a lot quicker, only a matter of hours.
And so, progress report… as usual have included a metaslider of the creative process to produce the end result. What I find really annoying is despite how often you sketch out the concept, even go so far as to colour it to see how it could look, once on canvas, the painting takes on a life of its own! The question is, is this a good thing?
